He's still there. Abby thought upon scrunching her eyes again, then returned her line of sight to normal; the advice that had been given to her wasn't working. Her new lab assistant, whom she named "Chip" had not been vanished from her aura. He was still there, working in her lab and always ready to call her "Ma'am. "Chip, you and I need to talk." She could at least note that he was competent, but the fact remained that she worked best when she was alone. The director however wanted to see how things would smooth out before talking to Abby, the quirky goth then placed both of her hands behind her. Now circling the "lab assistant" like a hawk, gathering her thoughts before stopping right in front of him. "You need to stop calling me Ma'am, it's stuffy and I'm not of a distinguished age yet. Not that there is anything wrong with being of a later age. Point being, you need to relax Chip! You're kinda bugging me out." Out one ear and through the other as Chip seemed perplexed and gave his answer of a, "I can't Ma'am-. Abby. I take pride in my work, which is why I am so serious." Well, okay, he broke down a little bit and at least mentioned her name. Instead of fully sticking with the "ma'am" name. Good Chip Her thought popped up before looking over her lab equipment.
It wasn't Chip's fault, but just by having him around it reminded her of change. Kate was gone and she was never coming back, to make things even worse: She was replaced. It felt way too soon, and it was clear on her end to be giving Ziva a cold shoulder. It was puzzling as McGee seemed to like her, even Tony as well. Abby guided her nimble fingertips to grab her favorite beverage of Caf-pow. Blinking and slurping up a quick sip before setting the drink down, now commenting with surprise to the results that lurked up onto the screen. "Whoa." With a few clicks of her computer mouse, she recorded the data about their victim. Then, a clever idea popped into her brain, perhaps she could get rid of Chip for a few minutes. "Take this to the duckman, Chip." Practically shoving the evidence bag into his grasp before he bought a clue to be about his way. "Yes, Ma'a-Abby." She could finally breathe easy when going to turn up her music and sought out Bert, aka the farting hippo to fully squeeze him. Thinking about Kate before turning around to meet Gibbs, whom had a refill of Caf-pow! "I miss her, Gibbs." It was hard not to make a sad but she had to focus on his reason for being there.
He had a physic link. Always alert and in tune to when she found stuff, the unique man known as Gibbs lifted a hand to soft pat Abby's forehead. "I know, Abbs." Once he finished that bit, he began to sit down the refill for Abby and proceeded to have a drink of his trademarked coffee. "What have you got?" Abby placed Bert to rest underneath her arm, where he then slowly passed a quirk of his; a fart. Abby slowly brought a grin to her lips. "S'cuse me. Well, Gibbs, I have a small fiber piece of wood on our victim. You'll never guess what kind." Gibbs of course didn't like the usual games he found himself in with abbs and merely spoke her name, "Abbs." Abby then cleared her throat, "So, as I was saying, the killer could've had this on them and would've have known." She then brought up a picture of the tree that the tiny little fiber had arrived from and looked back to Gibbs, unluckily enough, Chip had returned from his journey to the morgue.

"Spit it out Abs?" he said coming back he had merely forgotten the caf-pow for her right outside the door. He looked over her shoulder at the tree. "English Abby" he said narrowing his eyes so he could see the tree. His eyesight was getting bad and all the members had been telling him that he needed glasses but he was stubborn and refused to a it was a sign he was getting old.
He handed her the Caf-pow with a smirk he looked to Chip, he didn't really trust him too much and he knew Abby didn't really like having an assistant. He more or less didn't seem to care that he was blocking Chips view, he never really paid the kid much attention. That could be a good thing or a bad thing.
He turned his attention to the tree."Name of the tree?" he said shaking his head. He didn't like having to ask her so many questions about this case, he thought maybe she was distracted or didn't have enough caf-pow in her system either way he wanted to know everything she did
(Sorry for shortness)

Distracted? Well, that observation was right, but the normally energetic and peppy goth tried to let nothing slow her down. Mainly because she was the energizer bunny of her field, always ready to solve hinky mysteries for her gang family. Although, Abby's only downfall had been criticizing her top work harshly. Her fingertips raced to grasp her beloved drink, the trademarked crimson straw had met her lips and she practically inhaled a gulp of Caw-pow. Her shoulders gave a tiny shudder, feeling the lightening jolt of her drink beginning to work magic. Abby placed the drink down on a surface before her, to which she could hardly contain a bit of amusement. In her observation: He appeared crankier then usual. One more crack and then it was business. "Not enough caffeine, Gibbs?" Right, Abby then slightly stretched before laying down the knowledge upon Gibbs. "It's Hickory wood and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff it's made into. Well, maybe you would since you make boats and other crafty things." Abby then had that look and feeling of "shutting up" now, especially when glinting a stare onto Gibbs. Eventually, she glanced toward Chip; a bit puzzled on what she could have him run around and do.

Gibbs looked to Abby and shook his head at her comment about the caffeine. "McGee spilled it Abby, now the case, lets get back to it" Without his caffeine he was alot crankier than usual. He wasn't amused by her comments today like he normally was. He sighed as he looked to the woman his head dipped in her direction. He was still diliberately avoiding confrontation with Chip. He looked to Abby again before looking back to the screen."What was this one made into? His words were entirely too direct even coming from him. He obviously wanted answers and he wanted them fast.
He set his hands down on the table in front of him watching the screen she had pulled up. "The DNA tree match? He asked curious to know if she had gotten that far. The man wasn't patient when it came to DNA results and this was no exception. He was pretty much spoiled when he came down to Abby's lab for answers and it showed without his coffee tis particular day.

"Right," Abby chimed in with a swift reply once Gibbs had noted on getting back to their case; all while feeling sorry for McGee. Spilling coffee was like spilling her caf-pow, it was a mark of doom for the person. The goth narrowed her eyes upon the screen, even though she didn't really need to squint, in fact there were a lot of things she didn't need to do. Yet, Abby always managed to shine and to produce some of her best work, all thanks to her weird methods. Once the squinting had ceased, her line of vision peered onto Gibbs while blinking a tiny bit. "This one was a tool handle, if you can imagine it." She then tried to act out on what could have happened, via a colorful mime-like expression. Taking a unidentified blunt object with a tool handle, swinging and killing the victim; which displayed a lot of motion. After her demonstration, she was able to speak to the oh so impatient one. "This is a significant find Gibbs! Because you see, most tools are covered with metals and plastics today." She really didn't answer on the plant-dna question, she simply attempted to place her palms on his shoulders. "You can't rush science, Gibbs- but today is different. It's defiantly a match."

Jethro looked to Abby and couldn't help but smile."Good work Abs"He said sticking a caf pow in the fridge for her. He wandered back over to where Abby was instead of leaving this time. He had no idea why but something told the man to stick around the lab for a few minutes. It was one of those gut things that he didn't really have a reason for but it was reason enough for him.
He did however open his phone to send McGee and DiNozzo out to the house that the tree had come from. He would be joining them shortly. He smirked looking to Abby"I'm not a scientist therefore I can rush what I wish to"His words were more joking than serious but he had kind of meant them as he looked to the girl standing there at the lab tables.
He had his own train of thought running through his head. He still seemed to ignore Chip, but it was mostly for the fact he didn't like him at all and he knew Abby was a bit off put by him, but it didn't change the facts of the matter that much seeing as Gibb seemed to have waved chip out of the room, the man had glared at him. Not something one should do to the silverhaired man.

Yep, she loved her job; especially with a hefty ton of Caf-pow on her side of justice. Not to mention: The little praises from Gibbs. It helped to create a bonus for her, despite always being her worst critic in just about everything. What could one say? Old habits die hard, where as new ones are tricky to form and keep up with at times. The energetic-bunny-goth allowed a smirk to filter her lips, there was nothing in the rule book about not taking time to "smell the roses." With a breath of air flowing in and out in a relaxing fashion, she patted her lab table; mama just needed a time out. Despite whatever Gibbs would say or think, she was convinced they shared a link of some kind. Even now! In her mind, he was supposed to have a wrinkle in the middle of his forehead. Galloping; ok, not galloping but-. You get the idea, it was Gibbs going off to get the "Bad guys," all in his usual fashion. She would usually know when he left to do things.
Speaking of doing things, she missed the exchange between Chip and Gibbs; though she didn't miss a observation that he was missing. "Whoa." Fingertips lift and prod into one another, a sense of over worrying. Could you blame her? When has she ever been distracted? NEVER! Well, maybe a few times, being lighthearted; something just felt off. No clues as to what, it could drive someone nuts. "Something is cosmically out of balance here, Gibbs. Not like the kind of problem where most people walk out and forget their ke-." Right. Not the time to ramble about examples and wherever else her mind could land, she was recalling what Gibbs had said. About rushing science and commented on it, "Only you."
Amused, Abyy made a slight Gibbs impression; the "head tilt" at least before noticing that he had restocked her with a new Caf-pow. YAY! Like a bee to honey, Abby was close to the drink and was about to have a sip. "Come to mama." Her mind was trying to recall on how: How much longer she would have to give Chip a chance. Of course she had faith in nearly all her friends, but she worked best alone. Jenny must have some kind of plan, sometimes Abby could be impatient. It's a good thing, kind of when you work along the side of TEAM GIBBS! Perhaps she was harsh with Chip, but the lab was her space and baby; she needed to be sure he could be trusted. Maybe then she'll ease up.

Gibbs looked to the girl and spoke again as she starting rambling."Your point abs?"His words were very direct as he gave her that infamous look as well. He came up behind her and putting a hand on her shoulder to try and get her to relax a little."Chip go on get out of here"he instructed knowing that the assistant was weighing on her nerves slightly.
He needed to talk to her alone anyway, he knew there was something on her mind that she couldn't discuss with chip around and he could see it in her eyes."Whats eating you abs"His words were with a raised brow and seemed to be expectant of an answer as he tilted his head slightly in her direction
